Whose War is it Anyway?

“Thus says the LORD to you, ‘Do not fear or be dismayed because of this great multitude, for the battle is not yours but God’s.’ ” (2 Chronicles 20:15)

When our struggles and trials overwhelm us with fear, when it seems like there is no way that the end of this thing can turn out well – that is the Lord’s battle, not ours.  He has promised to cause all things to work together for good for us – He will fight the battles and turn the tides to make that happen.

He has promised us that we need not fear those who can destroy the body but cannot destroy the soul – so the enemies we are concerned about are His, not ours.  He has guaranteed us that we will be provided for and always have our needs (not our wants) met – so our provisions are His to bring, not ours.

We are soldiers in His army, not the other way around.  Christians need only trust orders and follow the Master – He always wins His wars.
