The Message Isn’t the Problem

“The king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, ‘There is yet one man by whom we may inquire of the LORD, but I hate him, because he does not prophesy good concerning me, but evil.” (1 Kings 22:8)

If we don’t like the message – it might be us, not the messenger, that needs changing.  Sometimes that’s how the Scriptures work.  The text should bother us at times.  It should push us and reprove us and cause us to open our eyes to our own faults.

If it never cuts our hearts, our hearts are too hard, not His words.
