Small Before the Throne

“Worthy are You, our Lord and our God, to receive glory and honor and power; for You created all things, and because of Your will, they existed and were created.” (Revelation 4:11)

As chapter four of Revelation unfolds, we see the majesty and glory of heaven unfold.  There are faithful garbed in white, leaders and sages of profound wisdom, encircling the throne.  We are also introduced to angelic beings of terrible might and capable of great insight.  With the sound of thunder and the flashing of light, we see heavenly fires burn and beautiful sights and sounds that both awe and terrify.  Certainly, John must have felt pretty small as he stood amongst these giants of the heavenly realm.

Yet, those giants felt small before the throne.  The elders and the cherubim alike proclaim themselves unworthy in the sight of God.  His power and glory surpasses them all.  Perspective.  Sometimes what we need in life is a little perspective, and that is what chapter four offers.  Everything is small in comparison to God.  Cast your crown before Him, and all will be well.
