A Man Ought to Be Happy

“I have seen that nothing is better than that man should be happy in his activities, for that is his lot.  For who will bring him to see what will occur after him?” (Ecclesiastes 3:22)

Dissatisfaction with life is often due to a preoccupation with tomorrow or yesterday.  Think too much about the past and you will glorify and embellish it into a false utopia that you’ve forever departed.  Fixate on the future and the hypothetical creations of your mind’s eye will outstrip the reality of whatever your actual life is.

An unhealthy love of the past and the future robs us of the joy of today.  Be happy where you are.  Contentment is the path to true joy.

“But if we have food and clothing, with these we will be content.” (1 Timothy 6:8)
