The Ocean’s Message

“Those who go down to the sea in ships, who do business on great waters; they have seen the works of the LORD, and His wonders in the deep.” (Ps 107:23-24)

The smaller your world is, the easier it is to think you are the center of it.  In our climate-controlled homes, using our voice-activated smart phones, waiting for our Amazon-delivered groceries, it is easy to believe that I am important, powerful, and in charge.

Sea captains know better.  Spend a few weeks on an ocean so vast that it can snap a 300,000 ton oil tanker in half and you stop being so sure of yourself.  It’s a big world and the more time you spend in it the easier it is to remember He is God and we are definitely not.
