The Human Condition

“I have seen all the works which have been done under the sun, and behold, all is vanity and striving after wind. What is crooked cannot be straightened, and what is lacking cannot be counted.” (Ecclesiastes 1:14-15)

The only truly shared experience of humanity is suffering.  Life is hard and frustrating.  Our dreams are often shattered, and tragedy strikes when we least expect it.  Our hearts are wounded, and the only thing we can collectively agree upon is that the world is not as it ought to be.

Our shared groan of suffering reminds us that here is not heaven.  Permanence is only to be found on the other side of the veil.  Only when we go to meet our God will we feel whole.  The best use of this life is to prepare for that day.
