“But David did not count those twenty years of age and under, because the LORD had said He would multiply Israel as the stars of heaven.” (1 Chr 27:23)
In 1 Chr 21:1, David made the mistake of numbering the people out of pride, but a more mature and humbled David learned that seeking to count his own greatness and the vastness of his kingdom was foolish pride.
Status and achievement can be lost, but the character to trust in the Lord and His promises will follow you wherever you go. Character prevails over status every time. Stop worrying about how much you have and start thinking about who you are.
