Our Father’s Sun

“To Him who made the great lights, for His lovingkindness is everlasting. The sun to rule by day for His lovingkindness is everlasting, the moon and stars to rule by night, for His lovingkindness is everlasting.” (Psalm 136:7-9)

We hurtle through the vast darkness of space with the frigid cosmos surrounding our tiny blue planet on all sides, and yet we wake up every morning unconcerned of the perilous razor’s edge on which all life exists.

We do so because our eyes have seen the goodness of the creation that speak of its Creator.  We see the sun and its heat stands as a reminder of the power of the one who holds all things together.  We behold the stars in the midnight sky and are filled with wonder and peace at the God who could make so many of them.

Instead of fearing the loneliness of our predicament, we find joy in this galactic creation we’ve been placed within.  God is good and the sun, the moon, and the stars reflect that.
