One Day at a Time

“O LORD, my heart is not proud, nor my eyes haughty; nor do I involve myself in great matters or in things too difficult for me.” (Ps 131:1)

Know your limits. It’s good advice in hot-dog eating competitions, finances, and life. A large amount of our anxiety comes with internally wrestling with issues that are above our pay grade.

What will happen to the government? What problems will my family or I face next year? What if (fill in the blank) happens?

God has told us exactly how much we should worry about and it starts and ends with today. When we struggle with things too difficult for us and beyond our capacity, we guarantee angst and failure.

“Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.” (Matt 6:34)
