Gracious Lips

“He kisses the lips who gives a right answer.” (Proverbs 24:26)

When we say the right thing – the thing that is true and without partiality – we give people a gift.

When our words are sharp enough to perform surgery, but not so sharp that they wound – we bless our friends and enemies alike.

When we are bold but not blunt, and honest but not callous – we become a safe harbor for the hurting and the growing.

When we speak truth in love, our words are nutritious because they are not watered down nor are they so strong as to taste bitter.

May the Lord grant us all mouths that impart grace to the hearers.

“Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear.” (Ephesians 4:29)
