Entitlement

“Now Adonijah the son of Haggith exalted himself, saying, ‘I will be king.’ So he prepared for himself chariots and horsemen with fifty men to run before him. His father had never crossed him at any time by asking, ‘Why have you done so?” And he was also a very handsome man…” (1 Kgs 1:5-6)

Want to know how to build an entitled child with no humility? Let them think they are the center of the world and never cross them by challenging their false assumptions. It is a parent’s job to cross their child, show them the line in the sand, and stop them from exalting themselves. Burst their bubble – a child that is wise in their own eyes is obnoxious and doomed to fail.

The meanest thing you can do to your kid is let them do whatever they want.

“Do you see a man who is wise in his own eyes? There is more hope for a fool than for him.” (Pr 26:12)
