Discretion & Understanding

“Blessed be the LORD, the God of Israel, who has made heaven and earth, who has given King David a wise son, endowed with discretion and understanding, who will build a house for the LORD and a royal palace for himself.” (2 Chronicles 2:12)

How do we define wisdom?  It is the combination of discretion and understanding.  You understand what is going on and you have the discretion to only say no more than what you have to.

Wise people tend to say only a small portion of what they are thinking.  Foolish people tell you everything that is on their mind.  Wisdom is the deep well that only brings one refreshing bucket of water up at a time, while foolishness is the mud puddle that splashes its filthy water all over your shoes.

The wise man knows more and says less.
