“Furthermore, as for every man to whom God has given riches and wealth, He has also empowered him to eat from them and to receive his reward and rejoice in his labor; this is the gift of God.” (Ecclesiastes 5:19)
The idea that people should be rewarded for their effort and that the harder you work, the more you should be rewarded isn’t a Western ideal. It is a biblical one. God enjoys seeing people enjoying the fruits of the labor.
