As Near As We Want

“The Lord is with you when you are with Him, and if you seek Him, He will let you find Him; but if you forsake Him, He will forsake you.” (2 Chronicles 15:2)

These words were spoken to King Asa as an encouragement that it was never too late for the nation to reform and return to God.  It didn’t matter how long they had been without law, without true worship, and away from God – they were never farther than a decision away from Him.

This is the power and the severity of free will.  God’s desire to be near us is only surpassed by His respect for us to choose for ourselves.  He will not force His love upon us, He will only woo.

For those far off and alienated from God – He is never as far away as you think.  For those who taken Him for granted, He will respect your desire for isolation.
